media access control address (MAC address), also called a physical address, of a computer which is a unique identifier assigned tonetwork interfaces for communications on the physical network segment.Basically MAC address represents the address of a device on an network and it is hard coded into the NIC.



RULES FOR WIFI MAC ADDRESS
1.Should be 12 Digits long only
2.Should have hexadecimal characters only (0-F)
3.Second digit of mac address should be Even Digit only (0 or 2 or 4 or 6 or 8 or A or C or E)

valid example - 0205160F0A3E
invalid example - 016GEABCDF59 

So,today we are going to change the mac address of our mediatek/mtk devices and there are two ways of changing the mac address of an mediatek device :

1. Using engineering mode [Easy]

2. Manual way [Advanced]


# Changing the mac address of an mediatek/mtk device using the Engineering mode :

Mediatek provides with an advanced mode for diagnosing various problems related to hardware and software.Basically we will exploit the engineering mode to get access to mac address of the mediatek device and then modify it.

1. .Download MTK Engineering Mode app from here :

2.Turn Off your Wifi .Open MTK Engineering Mode app and Click MTK Settings.




# If this doesnt works move on to the alternative method.

3. Swipe To Connectivity Tab.


4. Click WIFI.




5. Then tap NVRAM



6.In Byte String Access put values as
addr(h,byte) : 4
length(byte) : 6


7.Click Read. The 12 Digits shown in value(h) field is your current mac address

8. Save down your original Mac address.

9.Erase the value(h) field and now put your custom  12 digit mac address.

#Just follow these rules while customising the mac address

RULES FOR WIFI MAC ADDRESS

10.Click Write.

11.Exit to Home, Turn Off and turn On your Wifi Again.
12.Now Check your Wifi mac address in Phone Status.It should be Changed to what you entered in Step 9.

13.To get back your original Mac address, repeat the process with original Mac address value.




Manual Method [Advanced]


#Use this method only if the above mentioned doesnt works.

1.Get any good File Browser with Root access such as ES File Manager

3.Turnoff your wifi.With the File Browser, browse to /data/nvram/APCFG/APRDEB/




4.Copy the file called WIFI to sdcard twice(one for backup purpose and other to edit)


5.Also note the permissions on the WIFI file (for me it was rw-rw----)



6.Rename this file to WIFI.bak 

7.Open the copied WIFI file on sdcard with Hex Editor.




8.Notice your Wifi mac Address in the first two lines as mine is : 18 dc 56 f0 2a c2.Change these values according to wifi address rules as mentioned above.

9. After changing save it and replace it in /data/nvram/APCFG/APRDEB - from where you copied earlier.

10. Now switch off wifi and switch on.

#Now, your wifi mac address is changed now.

(To confirm, you can check in your wifi router)

REMEMBER:

Whenever you will reboot your device, mac address will change to default as before automatically.

Following are the method to configure PPtP VPN in different OS :-


Configure Free PPTP VPN in Linux Ubuntu

1. Open Network Manager – From the desktop click on the Network Manager icon in the top right hand corner, click on VPN Connections and Configure VPN. If you can’t see the Network Manager icon, you can open network manager by clicking on System -> Preferences -> Network Configuration and then click on the VPN tab.
 
2. Add VPN connection – When the VPN Connection window is displayed, click on Add to create the new connection.

3. Choose the connection type – Ensure the connection type is PPTP and click Create.

4. Enter VPN Account Details – For gateway enter the VPN server name provided above. In the Connection name field, enter “VPN Connection” as the new connection name. Enter VPN username and Password as provided above.

5. Advanced Settings – Select both MSCHAP and MSCHAPv2 options. Check the box labeled Use Point to Point encryption (MPPE) and then click OK. Click OK again to save the VPN connection.

6. Connect to the VPN – Now start the VPN connection by clicking on the Network Manager Icon again, select VPN Connections and click on the new connection you have created.

7. You’re connected....!! – The Network Manager icon should now have a little padlock icon on it to indicate that the VPN is now connected.


Configure Free PPTP VPN in Windows XP

1. From Windows XP desktop, click Start – Control Panel to open the control panel.

2. Click Network Connections icon, open the Network Connections window.

3. Click Next button to get the first “New Connection Wizard” Welcome window.

4. Select “Connect to the network at my workspace” in “Network Connection Type” window, click Next.

5. Select “Virtual Private Network Connection” in “Network Connection” window, click Next.

6. Enter VPN Connection as the VPN connection name, click Next.

7. Enter VPN Server as provided above and click Next.

8. Click “Finish” button.

9. Now the VPN login window shows up, use the above Username and Password and click “Connect” button to start your free Win XP VPN connection....!!

Configure PPTP VPN in Windows 7

1. From Windows 7 Desktop, click Start – Control Panel to open the Control Panel.

2. Click Network and Internet.

3. Click Network and Sharing Center.

4. Click Set up a new connection or network, then Connect to a workplace.

5. Select option “No, create a new cnonection”, then “Use my Internet connection (VPN)”.

6. In the Connect to a workplace window, fill VPN Server hostname as provided above.

7. In Next window, use Username and Password as provided above.

8. Click “Connect” button to start the free VPN connection in your Windows 7 Desktop.


Configure Free PPTP VPN in Windows 8

1. Click on “Open Network and Sharing Center” from the network icon from the taskbar or click on “Network and Sharing center” from Control Panel.

2. Click on “Set up a new connection or network”.

3. Select “Connect to a workplace” and click “Next”.

4. Choose “Use my Internet Connection (VPN)”.

5. In the “Internet Address” field use the above provided server as hostname. In the “Destination name” field type “VPN Connection” then click “Create”.

6. Click on the monitor icon on the bottom right-hand corner.

7. Right–click on the “VPN Connection” connection, and choose “Properties” from the menu.

8. Select “Security” tab and for “Type of VPN” select “Point to Point Tunneling Protocol (PPTP)” and click “OK”.

9. Click again on the monitor icon on the bottom right-hand corner, and click “Connect” to “VPN Connection”.

10. In the next fields type VPN username and VPN password as provided above and click “OK”.

11. When next to “VPN Connection” is written “Connected” your connection has been created.

Configure Free PPTP VPN in Mac OS X

1. From Mac OS X 10.x (Tiger, Leopard, Snow Leopard, Lion or Mountain Lion), click Top Left Apple Icon, then click “System Preferences…” menu item, in opened Window, click “Network” icon.
2. In opened Network window, Click on the ‘+’ button at bottom left corner, in the next opened window, input the following, then click “Create” button:
Interface: VPN
VPN Type: PPTP
Service Name: VPN Connection
3. In the next window, enter the VPN Server information as provided above, use Automatic ( 128 bit or 40 bit ) for Encryption, then click Apply button.
5. Click the Advanced button and under the Options tab make sure to check Send all traffic over VPN Connection option, click OK button, click Apply button again.
6. Now click Connect button in the middle of the window, from the Internet Connect window, use the above provided VPN Username in the name field, and use the password given above, click “OK” button to start your free VPN connection in your Mac OS X desktop
Internet have become our essential necessity and Wifi Networks are all around us.Most of Wifi Networks are Encrypted So to gain access to them we need to crack them.So in this Tutorial i will be elaborating Wifi Hacking.
Basically Wifi Networks are protected By two Types of Encryptions:

>> WEP (Wired Equivalent Privacy)

This is the most basic form of encryption. This has become an unsafe option as it is vulnerable and can be cracked with relative ease. Although this is the case many people still use this encryption.

>> WPA (Wi-Fi Protected Access)

This is the more secure alternative. Efficient cracking of the pass phrase of such a network requires the use of a wordlist with the common passwords. In other words you use the old-fashioned method of trial and error to gain access. Variations include WPA-2 which is the most secure encryption alternative till date. Although this can also be cracked using a wordlist if the password is common, this is virtually uncrackable with a strong password. That is, unless the WPA PIN is still enabled (as is the default on many routers).Hacking WEP passwords is relatively fast, so we'll focus on how to crack them for this guide.

 

Step 1 : What You'll Need

*.A compatible wireless adapter: This is by far the biggest requirement.The wireless card of your computer has to be compatible with the software CommVIew. This ensures that the wireless card can go into monitor mode which is essential for capturing packets.Click here to check if your wireless card is compatible
*.CommView for Wi-Fi:This software will be used to capture the packets from the desired network adapter.Click here to download the software from their website.
*.Aircrack-ng GUI:
After capturing the packets this software does the actual cracking.

Step 2:

Setting Up CommView for Wi-Fi

*.Download the zip file of CommView for Wi-Fi from the website. Extract the file and run setup.exe to install CommView for Wi-Fi. When CommView opens for the first time it has a driver installation guide. Follow the prompts to install the driver for your wireless card.
*.Run CommView for Wi-Fi.
*.Click the play icon on the top left of the application window.Start scanning for wireless networks.CommView now starts scanning for wireless networks channel by channel. After a few minutes you will have a long list of wireless networks with their security type and signal. Now it is time to choose your target network.

Step 3:

Selecting the Target Network and Capturing Packets

A few things to keep in mind before choosing the target wireless network:
*.This tutorial is only for WEP encrypted networks,so make sure you select a network with WEP next to its name
*.Choose a network with the highest signal.
*.Each network will have its details in the right column.
*.Make sure the WEP network you are choosing has the lowest dB (decibel) value.Once you have chosen your target network, select it and click Capture to start capturing packets from the desired channel.Now you might notice that packets are being captured from all the networks in the particular channel. To capture packets only from the desired network follow the given steps.
*.Right click the desired network and click on copy MAC Address.
*.Switch to the Rules tab on the top.
*.On the left hand side choose MAC Addresses.
*.Enable MAC Address rules.
*.For 'Action' select 'capture' and for 'Add record' select 'both'.
*.Now paste the mac address copied earlier in the box below.We need to capture only data packets for cracking. So, select Don the bar at the top of the window and deselect M(Management packets) and C(Control packets).Now you have to save the packets so that they can be cracked later. To do this:
*.Go to the logging tab on top and enable auto saving.
*.Set Maximum Directory Size to 2000.
*.Set Average Log File Sizeto 20.

Step 4: Waiting N Cracking

NOTE:The amount of time taken to capture enough data packets depends on the signal and the networks usage. The minimum number of packets you should capture should be 100,000 for a decent signal.After you think you have enough packets (at least 100,000 packets), you'll need to export them.
*.Go to the log tab and clickon concatenate logs.
*.Select all the logs that have been saved.
*.Do not close CommView for Wi-Fi.
*.Now navigate to the folder where the concatenated logs have been saved.
*.Open the log file.
*.Select File- Export -Wire shark tcpdump format and choose any suitable destination.
*.This will save the logs with a .cap extension to that location. CRACKING!
*.Download Aircrack-ng and extract the zip file.
*.Open the folder and navigate to 'bin'.
*.Run Aircrack-ng GUI.
*.Choose WEP.
*.Open your .cap file that you had saved earlier.
*.Click Launch.
*.In the command prompt type in the index number of your target wireless network.
*.Wait for a while. If everything goes fine, the wireless key will be shown.You may also receive a request to try with more packets. In this case wait until more packets have been captured and repeat the steps to be performed after capturing packets.
